The New York Rangers have a mistake that they need to fix this summer, and it is the failure to move center Vincent Trocheck at the trade deadline back in March. It is a part of a perfect blueprint for a successful offseason.

There is no argument that he can still play at a high level, but the franchise is looking to go younger. A retool cannot sustain him as the second-line center, especially when his value is at its highest.

Here are three teams that could be biting on him, and would be a perfect landing place for Trocheck.

Toronto

This is the perfect place for Trocheck to land, and the Toronto Maple Leafs are going to give up the most of anyone to get him. As Lyle Richardson of Bleacher Report described in his piece on recent NHL rumors, Toronto needs him as their depth down the middle is getting too old or may be sidelined for a considerable amount of time.

Trocheck is an experienced veteran, and a 1-2 punch of Auston Matthews and Trocheck, and the impending selection of Gavin McKenna in the upcoming draft puts the Maple Leafs back on the map. Rangers President and General Manager Chris Drury has to use that as leverage to get the biggest possible return.

Carolina

A reunion in Carolina with Trocheck might be the best-case scenario. Despite it being to another Metropolitan team, and arguably the best of the bunch, the Hurricanes' window to win the Stanley Cup is in full force.

With the current Stanley Cup Final against Vegas knotted up at 2-2, if they cannot win the next two out of three, Trocheck has to be on their radar this summer.

Detroit

With the recent bombshell out of Detroit of captain Dylan Larkin wanting out, they are going to need a new leader. Trocheck is a valid choice to replace him, and could be given the ''C" for the first time in his career there.

A lot of Rangers fans believe that No. 16 should have been given the letter before giving it to J.T. Miller, and Detroit could jump at that opportunity to award him the honor. If Drury can sweeten the pot, maybe a Larkin for Trocheck and some other resources can be arranged.
